Proper Door Maintenance

Here are a few tips to get the maximum life of your double action swinging doors. Make sure the hinges are clean, lubricated, and attaching hardware is all tight. If the hinges are not securely fastened to the wall, this increases the chances of the hinge to break or pull loose. All impact plates or teardrop bumpers should be securely fastened. Keep the door surfaces clean and free of any corrosive materials. Other accessories that can help prolong the doors life are doorstop and guarding post.

Commercial Food Swinging Doors

If you will be experiencing higher pallet jack or light fork truck traffic, you will want to consider upgrading to a heavier built door. The door construction and hinges are designed for heavier impacts of these type applications.

Warehouse Impact Doors

There are some key things to consider when installing or replacing existing double action swinging doors.

• The door opening size will determine if one or two forklifts can pass through simultaneously.
• In most cases size constraints or budget limitations do not justify a large enough door to accommodate dual traffic. For this reason it is important to use the right impact doors that will not hinder traffic flow and will be less susceptible for collisions. For slower or minimal traffic with fork trucks, a lighter weight and lower price door is most generally suitable for this application.
• For higher speeds and high traffic, a high-end quality, rugged built door is your best investment.
• Also consider if the door needs to be insulated, (along with a perimeter gasket) to minimize heat loss or reduce noise. Proper window size can also plays a key part in minimizing collisions.
