Do I need a 3-piece steel frame?
If you are replacing an existing door, and you have a wood or steel frame in place that is in good condition, in most cases, this can be reused. If your frame is in poor condition or if this is new construction, then you may want to consider purchasing a new frame.
I’m removing a heavy wood door but want to keep my frame, do I have to purchase a metal frame to work with your double swinging door?
No, if your frame is in good shape it can more than likely be reused. Our double swinging door hinges will fit centered into your frame. If the frame has a doorstop and it cannot be removed, you will have to straddle the stop with our hinge. Please consult your Paylon sales rep
Can a double swinging door attach to drywall without a frame?
No, it is not recommended to put our hinge directly on drywall. There are some ways around this, please consult with your Paylon sales rep.
What is a Cased Opening Hollow Metal Frame?
Cased open hollow metal frames are manufactured without an integrated doorstop. This 3 piece frame is typically used in conjunction with double swinging doors. CK-Frames are used with stud walls and MK-frames are used with masonry walls. To properly fit, the frame throat size must match or be slightly larger than the wall thickness. All Paylon frames are pre-drilled with stiffener plates added at all hinge locations. This allows for easy installation. All steel CK-frames and MK-Frames are available as paintable or full stainless steel.
